Abhidharma is the Buddhist science of mind and matter. It is a compilation of and an analysis of the Buddha’s teachings on each key dharma topic. The 19th-century master, Ju Mipham Rinpoche wrote a brilliant summary of abhidharma called Kenjuk – « Penetrating the Ways of the Wise ».
I will be teaching some selected chapters from this work, trying to bring the concepts to life rather than just sharing « laundry lists ».
The first part of the Kenjuk was composed at Thrangu monastery in Eastern Tibet. Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche held a very direct (his guru’s guru was Mipham R.) transmission of this text and I had the honour of receiving his teachings on it, as well as those of the remarkable Khenchen Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche. I have found (others too) that having the knowledge imparted in it makes a tremendous difference to someone’s understanding of dharma and especially of Vajrayana.
